Wild spaces for our urban jungle

Urban Forest is a South Manchester-based community movement. We’re harnessing the power of local people and purpose-driven organisations to create pockets of woodlands in the heart of cities, encouraging wildlife to return to our urban landscapes.
Run by the local community, we have just secured our first urban space in Chorlton supported by United Utilities and Transport for Greater Manchester. We’re transforming the site, planting tree saplings grown by volunteers in their homes and gardens during the lockdowns of 2021.

We are actively looking for more spaces where we can plant trees and encourage biodiversity to flourish. And we need your help to make this happen!
Volunteer your time at our first site in Chorlton – click here for details of upcoming gardening sessions.
Work with us to identify more purpose-driven organisations with pockets of land we could transform into woodland, benefiting nature and people’s wellbeing.
